Days of formal events

Hi everybody! 

Lately we've been invited to some formal events. Usually I wear casual kimono so my wardrobe doesn´t have many formal stuff, and there was little time between the events. So I decided to do two combinations around one obi. 

Blue iromuji with 1 kamon (family crest that raise the formality of the kimono), with purple obiage and obijime. The zori was blue too.

One of the events was a concert of japanese popular songs. The famous singer Akiko Kiyono liked our kimonos ^^

I'm working on a photo shooting, if all goes as expected, it'll be spectacular!! 

A new toy!

Hi!

It was long time without posting! I've been ill for a few days, but now i'm fine (*^▽^*)
And finally yesterday I could enjoy my new good friend, a camera!! Yeees, I wanted for some years and now I have. 
I've been practicing what we learn on photography class, but with 4 days we don't know much.

Después de varios días un poco malita, pude estrenar ayer mi nuevo juguete, una cámara! Por fin!! Siempre he pensado que con una buena cámara ya salen buenas fotos, y prácticamente si jaja pero la cosa se complica cuando se busca algo especial y el tema luz es difícil. Ahora me estoy dando cuenta de lo importante que es tener buenas ideas, por ejemplo en cuanto a perspectivas. Ahora toca practicar mucho! 

Visiting the museum

Hello^^

Last weekend my kimono friends and I went to the museum to see a fashion history exhibition. We couldn't take photos of the costumes, but we did on courtyards ( it's a XVIII century building).

It was cold so I wore a thick wool cape

El sábado pasado mis compis de kimono y yo fuimos de visita al museo de bellas artes, había una exposición de historia de la moda bastante interesante con piezas originales. Lo malo es que no se podía hacer fotos de la exposición, pero nos hicimos fotos nosotras en los patios (｡’▽’｡)

Two wore traditional style, two with modern style and two with haori (not in the image (∩︵∩) )

All was komon (informal type of kimono) synthetic, silk, ume (plum blossom, flower of the month) and a less common majorika-omeshi, very lovely ～(^з^)

Íbamos 4 en kimono y 2 en haori, pero no salen en la foto :( creía que seríamos menos, pero cada vez se une más gente!

Purple and gold Tsumugi Nagoya obi, pocket watch hanging, black belt as an obijime, black boots, and the handbag..I've noticed that I need something red when wearing kimono! Don't know why O.o

Second design project at college

Hi!

The first one i'll show other day, it was 4 drawings; but the second was a work with the mannequin (★^O^★) was a 25cm mannequin but I don't care. I've sewn many clothes before beginning the studies, but I was excited about do it as class work. Well, this was only a design work so we didn't need to sew it, only place it with pins. 

It was supposed that we had to choose some flower or nature element as an inspiration, but i wanted to do something more complicated, finally I decided that one of my obsessions would be fine: cyberpunk! exactly futuristic architecture. Also has a touch of film heroine that the professor didn't like (^～^;)

El primer diseño sobre maniquí que hemos hecho en clase! No está cosido, solo está con alfileres así que era complicado conseguir la idea que tenía; al final conseguí esconder los alfileres bastante bien, después de bastantes horas de trabajo ^^U En clase nos pidieron que nos inspiráramos en un elemento de la naturaleza, pero quería hacer algo más complicado ya que he hecho bastantes prendas y el maniquí no es algo nuevo para mi. Quería hacer algo cyberpunk, un gran reto! Pero sabía que no le gustaría la idea a la profesora así que lo camuflé poniendo como tema la arquitectura futurista.

Materials: White leatherette, textured cotton fabric, black leather strips, optical fiber and a small lantern. 

Materiales: Polipiel blanca, tejido de algodón de hilo grueso, tiras de cuero negro, fibra óptica y una linterna pequeña.

And the optical fiber and small lantern?? Here you can se it shining:

I would like to continue doing challenges, but I think in college prefer more "normal" things \(￣□￣)\

Seijin no Hi or Coming of Age Day

The second Monday of January in Japan is held a pretty festivity, Coming of Age Day. The new adult women wears furisode, kimono for unmarried. And men use less kimono (a shame (╯︵╰,) ) and often wears suit. 

The furisode is very striking, with many colors and long sleeves. Is the most formal kimono for unmarried women, so it's seen on weddings wearing by the bride's sisters.

But the Coming of Age Day is a bit more free celebration, and people merge tradition with fashion. Here's an example that lucky people in Japan could see last Monday: http://tokyofashion.com/coming-of-age-day-japan-kimono/ 

Hola! Hoy voy a hablar un poco de una celebración que se realiza el segundo Lunes de Enero en Japón, El día de la mayoría de edad. Las chicas visten en furisode, el kimono más formal para mujeres solteras, tiene las mangas más largas y dibujos llamativos. Aunque hay una versión más tradicional para vestirlo, en esta celebración se dejan llevar por las modas y se puede ver cualquier cosa. There are 3 types of furisode. Its differences are the length of the sleeves and the occasion to wear it. 
Kofurisode - The shortest sleeves, normally seen on graduation ceremonies with a hakama.
Chufurisode - Mid length sleeves, I don't have much information about it T.T  
Ôfurisode - The longest sleeves, and most formal. Mainly used at Seijin no hi.

It's very expensive, so I only have one chufurisode. Is not silk, is synthetic but it doesn't seem. The color contrasts are great, also it has purple areas (one of my favourite colors ヽ(^。^)丿) mums, peony, tabane noshi (paper strips), tsuzumi (Japanese drum)

Este es un chufurisode, es el que tiene un largo medio de mangas, rondando el metro. No he conseguido encontrar apenas información sobre este tipo de kimono T.T Fue usado como kimono de calle por las mujeres ricas y según parece actualmente se ve bastante para alquilar. Creo que es un poco más informal que el Ôfurisode, el de mangas más largas y más formal. 

Me gustan mucho los detalles morados ^^

Aaaaand the day before yesterday, I did mini pizza! It's easiest than thought. I recommend homemade pizzas, it's yummy !!

Lotus root or renkon

Hello!

Some time ago i wanted to taste the renkon. It's something that is not found on supermarkets, finally could find it at local asian food shops (*＾＾*)

The main feature is the shape, with some small holes. It's said that is lucky because you can see what's coming you.

As I've never eaten, I followed the most simple recipe: Fried. I thought renkon would have a stronger flavor, but not. Is mild and crisp, a good substitute for the potato or complement for some dishes. 


Hace un tiempo probé algo que tenía pendiente, la raíz de loto. Lo que más llama la atención es la forma interior ya que está lleno de agujeritos, he de reconocer que la forma es lo que hizo que fuera detrás de esto (ノ＞▽＜。)ノ Dicen que da buena suerte porque puedes ver lo que viene a través de ellos. Además parece que tiene bastantes propiedades beneficiosas. Hay bastantes recetas pero yo lo hice muy sencillo, frito. Queda como las patatas, blando y suave por dentro y crujiente por fuera, muy rico ^^

On New Year's Eve

Hi!  First blog post of the year, and something more to celebrate....Secret garden has one year!!! (★^O^★)

シークレットガーデンは、1年です!!!

For New Year's Eve my friends decided to do a cooking contest. The rules: Japanese dishes and enough quantity. After four hours in the kitchen T.T I did one main Yakisoba pan, and as finger food: Yakitori chicken and quail eggs with curry. Everybody said all was yummy! 

Hola! Con la llegada del 2014 este blog cumple un año! 

En noche vieja estuve cocinando 4 horas para participar en un concurso que habían planeado los amigos con los que pasé esa noche. Aposté por Yakisoba pan, pollo Yakitori y huevos de codorniz rellenos de curry. Al final el concurso no se hizo porque participamos pocos, pero les gustó lo que preparé. Bieen!

Hair waves, pearls, sequins...20's style! Finally i dress like a 1920's women yay! Maybe the next will be a Regency inspired dress :3
